Data deletion | RV Shift

RV Shift is run by RV Shift LLC. These steps work for any RV Shift account. For what we collect and why, see our privacy policy.

Delete your account yourself

Sign in to RV Shift, if you are not signed in already.
Tap your name (or your first initial) at the top of any page. A menu opens.
Choose Delete my account.
Confirm in the window that opens.

This deletes:

your saved-RV record: the RVs you saved, your ZIP code, your RV Finder answers and the time they were last updated;
your sign-in account (the name, email address, photo link and account ID that Firebase Authentication holds for you).

Then it signs you out. It cannot be undone. If you sign in again later, you start a new account, and anything still on your device (see below) is saved into it.

If you are still signed in on another device or tab, a heart or ZIP change made there for up to about an hour after you delete can put a copy of your saved-RV record back. Sign out there first, or email us and we will delete it again.

If it has been a while since you signed in, a Google or Facebook window (the one you signed in with) may ask you to sign in again before the deletion finishes. That is a safety check. Do it, and the deletion carries on.

Deleting your RV Shift account does not delete your Google account. You can also remove RV Shift from the apps connected to your Google account in your Google account's security settings.

If you signed in with Facebook, deleting your RV Shift account does not delete your Facebook account either, and it does not remove RV Shift from the apps and websites on your Facebook account. To remove RV Shift from Facebook: in Facebook, open Settings, then Apps and websites, find RVShift Login (the name Facebook shows for RV Shift sign-in), and choose Remove. Removing it only stops RV Shift from using your Facebook sign-in until you choose Continue with Facebook again. To delete your RV Shift account and saved data, follow the steps above.

Or ask us by email

Email hello@rvshift.com with the subject "Delete my account". Write from the email address on your account, or tell us which Google or Facebook email you signed in with, so we can match it. We may ask a question to confirm it is you. We will delete your saved-RV record and your sign-in account, and reply to tell you it is done. This also works if you can no longer sign in.

Messages you sent through our forms

The forms on RV Shift are: asking about an RV, Sell my RV, sign up, contact us, and list your dealership. We hold what you sent in our form service (Netlify) and, for messages about an RV, in the RV Shift dealer dashboard. How long we keep these messages: We keep them for 12 months, then delete them.

To have them deleted sooner, email hello@rvshift.com. Tell us the email address you used on the form, and which form or RV it was about. We will delete the copies we hold, and reply to tell you it is done. If you only filled in a sign-up form and never made an account, this is the way to be removed.

If we passed your message to a dealer, the dealer has its own copy, and we cannot delete it. We can tell you which dealer got your message, and you can ask that dealer to delete it.

What stays on your own device

Your hearts, ZIP code and RV Finder answers are kept in your browser, on your device. Deleting your account or signing out does not clear them. They are on the device because you saved them there, or because signing in copied them down from your account, and they stay until you clear them. Whoever signs in next on that device gets them added to their own account. They are:

saved RVs (rvs_saved), your ZIP code (rvs_zip) and your RV Finder answers (rvs_profile);
a flag that says you were signed in on this device (rvs_auth), a copy of what was last stored in your account (rvs_sync), and Firebase's signed-in session, which are removed when you sign out;
short-lived tab data (rvs_finder, and the counting items described in the privacy policy), which goes when you close the tab.

To clear them:

One saved RV: tap its heart again.
Your ZIP code: on the Buy RVs page, empty the ZIP code box and press Enter.
Everything: open your browser's settings, find "clear browsing data" or "site data", and clear cookies and site data for this website. This also clears the RV Finder answers.

If you are signed in, delete your account or sign out first. Otherwise your saved RVs and answers come back from your account the next time you sign in. If you used RV Shift on other devices, clear each one.

Anonymous counts

The counts described in the privacy policy have no name, email or account on them and cannot be tied back to you, so there is nothing for us to find and delete. To be left out of them, turn on Global Privacy Control in a browser or extension that supports it.
